Croatian singer and harmonica player Tomislav Goluban is another restless musician who always does multiple blues activities. Besides leading his band, he also is a blues music educator, a radio DJ and a festival organizer in his country. He has released 16 studio albums so far and, both in a solo/duo format or with his full band, fans can often see him playing in Croatia, all over Europe or even in USA.

Since the precise moment he first heard the song “Hot Coffee And Pain” performed by singer and guitar player Crooked Eye Tommy (Tommy Marsh), an American musician who has gradually reached a good prestige and fame among blues lovers, Tomislav decided they had to do something together. To begin with, they recorded a couple of songs, first in Croatia and then in USA, where they completed the number of songs that would give shape to the recording they have just released, that was recorded at Jasco’s Music Lab. in Nashville, TN, in October 16th and 17th, 2023.

Despite Tomislav is a traditional old school harmonica player with influences coming from Sonny Terry or Slim Harpo, and Tommy comes from California and his influences can be found in blues rock, both musicians have managed to tastefully combine their styles to present a ten songs album, most of them Tomislav’s own compositions. The recording opens with an instrumental track and, from the second song onwards, Tomislav and Crooked Eye Tommy turn in vocals. “Hip Hop Shake” is another instrumental song that allows us to taste and savor the performing quality of all the musicians involved, who contribute to give shape to an album totally pleasant to listen to, with a careful development and an exquisite musical display.
