Brandon Hudspeth was fascinated by guitar only aged five, when he saw a Johnny Cash on a live show. His parents realized his potential, so they paid for music lessons and gave him a guitar, as well as make him listen to blues, jazz, rock and roll and country records. When he was 16, he decided he wanted to play guitar professionally, so he moved to Kansas City where he was in contact with the city’s blues scene. After playing with different musicians, he formed his own band that soon derived to Levee Town, whose members have been playing together for twenty years now, that gives an idea of the strength and professionalism of this trio, who totally know each other, so the music they play flows naturally.
If their previous album was enthusiastically received by public and media, this one is not left behind, because all the musicians create an atmosphere where you will immediately notice influences coming from Freddie King, Peter Green or Dave Edmunds, without forgetting Allman Brothers, Chuck Berry or Laurel Canyon Californian sound, cleverly displayed by these three musicians who totally understand each other and masterly develop the styles they perform, making their songs sound fresh and spontaneous but, at the same time, with strength enough to make listeners enjoy them.
Eight Brandon Hudspred’s own composition plus the version of “I Got A Hole In My Pocket” coming from Felice & Boudleaux Bryant, make up this album where Brandon is on vocals and guitar, Jacque Garoutte on bass and vocals and Adam Hagerman on drums. The recording also includes the special collaboration of Tilney Edhardt on accordion, piano and organ in five songs.
Lovers of blues, Californian rock and roots music are lucky with the release of this interesting album.
