“Lighthouse Blues” is a masterclass of sound maturity with American roots coming from Helsinki. Released in May 2026, this fifth studio album firmly establishes Lena & The Slide Brothers as leading figures in their home country.
This Finnish band displays a faultless connection, seamlessly blending traditional blues with Southern rock. The record driving force comes from the flawless vocals and steady bass beat of frontwoman Lena Lindroos. Her vocal delivery is powerful and clear, avoiding unnecessary frills, as she is gifted with a sublime, heartfelt performing honesty. She is surrounded by the guitars of Matti Kettunen and Kristian Wahlström, which engage themselves in a fascinating instrumental dialogue. Both musicians justify the band’s name, delivering a remarkable, fluid, and high-energy slide guitar passages. The rhythm section is completed by Raine Kokkinen, whose raw, minimalist and organic drumming rounds up the whole project.
With eleven tracks, the album stands out for having been recorded almost totally live in studio. This technical approach infuses a fresh organic punch that catches listeners from the very first notes. Among the songs list, the title track “In A Black Cadillac” brightly shines with an infectious groove. Songs like “Sweet Little Angel” offer a darker, more emotive lyricism exploring topics like hope. On the other hand, raw cuts like “Tell My Mama”, communicate pure electricity driven by heavy guitar riffs.
“Lighthouse Blues” is more than just a blues record; it is a magnetic, deep-rooted conceptual journey. It proves that the genre knows no geographical boundaries when it is delivered with absolute reverence. This is a highly recommended release for great music, sharp guitars and soulful vocals’ lovers.
