The highly awaited second album from Baton Rouge, Louisiana native Jovin Webb “Son of a Sinner” and released by the prestigious Blind Pig label, confirms his status as one of the most genuine and soul-stirring voices in contemporary blues.

Produced by Grammy-winner Tom Hambridge and recorded in Nashville, this eleven-track album represents a deep emotional evolution after his acclaimed debut one “Drifter”

While his first recording showcased a wandering soul caught between Saturday night unrestrained excess and Sunday morning remorse and regret, this new release is the ultimate give account. Through a powerful crash of swamp blues with the evangelical fire of gospel and the grit of southern rock, Webb does not just play the genre, he lives and performs it with thrilling honesty.

My standout track, “Pray for Me” perfectly showcases the album’s atmosphere, driven by tremolo-soaked guitar and a chest-aching harmonica, while he openly struggles with temptation and faith. On high-octane cuts like “Gunpowder & Lead”, Jovin dives into gritty, low-down landscapes, paying a magnetic tribute to his Louisiana roots with a vibrant version of Delbert McClinton’s “Every Time I Roll the Dice”.  The emotional core is totally stripped in the southern rock ballad “After the Rain”, a resilient hymn facing loss, while “Whipping Post” becomes a gradual explosion from an acoustic intro to a powerful full band. With his personal raspy vocals, forged in the Gulf Coast club circuit, Jovin Webb delivers a timeless and powerful work, proving that musical truth is better when it is served raw and sometimes a little bit flawed, but always with a bulletproof feeling.
