“Used Parts” is the ninth studio album by Jeffrey Halford & The Healers. With this release, this American band delivers a masterpiece of musical maturity.
The record strengthens their distinctive sound blended with Americana roots music, blues and rock although, in this new recording you can notice a deeper tendency towards soul music. The title track, “Used Parts,” serves as the emotional centerpiece of the entire project. It is a gritty meditation about human resilience and the quality of correcting self-faults. Halford doesn’t say to start from scratch, but rather to push forward with the scars left by the journey that one makes.
Dynamic tracks like “Bright Lights” and “Living Worthwhile” stand out in the album, which also features deeply story-driven compositions such as “Rhythm of the Rails” and “Mississippi Flyer”. The song “Corazón” -yes, in Spanish-, adds a compelling, acoustic, border-land vibe.
The production firmly bets on raw honesty over excessive overproduction, letting the spotlight go directly to the band’s tight chemistry and sharp guitar licks. Halford’s vocals sound with more weight, charisma and clarity than ever before. The true thing is that it becomes a perfect recording for all lovers of raw music but, at the same time, presented with genuine soul and extreme passion.
