Andy Cowan belongs to the new generation of Australian piano players and singers who passionate and cleverly mix with an extremely good taste the Afroamerican roots music with a personal precise own way of approaching and understand music, which make him reach a high quality level The three cds Train I’m On, One Of These Days and 10:30 Thursdays give an accurate vision of Andy’s straight concise and peculiar way of performing black music He does a perfect mixture of blues, rhythm and blues, but especially, jazz and ballads with swing, which is present along the three cds, together with Andy’s magic, skill and quality which let him be considered as one of the best Australian piano players The attack, the bright sound and his creativity give a very special feeling and energy to the three cds, quite difficult to find on other similar artists I will not dare to point out one cd over the other two, because all have an outstanding quality Another added value to be taken into consideration is the fact Andy is a piano player, that unfortunately is now one of the soloist less performed iunstruments in blues music
