It would now be 110 years since the birth of legendary Chicago piano player Eddie Boyd and 30 years since he passed away. From 1970 Eddie settled in Helsinki, where he spent the rest of his life.

Some of the most representative musicians of Finnish blues scene have decided to pay tribute to a musician who was one of the most legendary names of Chicago blues who, not only caught black audiences but also young white ones, both in USA and Europe, where he traveled with Buddy Guy as member of the American Folk Blues Festival, also recording with Fleetwood Mac or John Mayall and Mike Vernon’s production, not to mention he also wrote one of the most popular blues songs of all times, “Five Long Years”.

Thanks to Pepe Ahlqvist’s initiative, we can now go back over eleven songs that were once performed by Eddie Boyd, songs that still remain in the souls of good blues fans, that now get a new life thanks to these musicians who, with an undeniable commitment, give the best of themselves to keep alive the memory of a great bluesman whose name was Eddie Boyd.

Pepe Ahlqvist on vocals, guitar, harmonica and National steel guitar, Tomi Leino on guitar, Jukka Gustavson on vocals, Hammond A100 and keyboards, Jaska Prepula on electric and double bass and finally Kepa Kettunen on drums and percussion, give shape to an album that, over all, becomes a heartfelt tribute to a bluesman who left an unforgettable mark on their hearts, they now want to share with those of you who still remember the great Eddie Boyd, but also with those people who, thanks to this recording, will discover one of the most outstanding names of Chicago blues scene.
