Singer and guitar player Willie May has released twenty-one albums up to date, which guarantees he is an artist with a good dose of credibility and an specific weight among Buffalo area blues musicians The title and music of the new album he has just released Blues For Sugar is a tribute to his band mate and lifelong friend Ron Sugarman Kain who unfortunately passed away not so long ago The recording opens with the song Joanna Conqueror, a classic shuffle featuring harmonica player and Buffalo Blues Music Awards nominee Brandon Santini, to go on with Fannie Mae, a very traditional song featuring another great harmonica player like Jeremy Keyes, who comes from the western New York, together with Mark Harris on double bass and Mark Garcia on drums The following two songs Forest Of Stone and Underneath The Trees are two raw deep ones with Robert Parker on bass, Owen Eichensehr on drums, Evan Laedke on keyboards and Hayden Fogler on guitar The song Love Sweet Love is a house rockin’ blues that will catch you from the first notes with Hayden Love on guitar together with Willie May on guitar too Go Back Home is a joyful zydeco song with Mark Panfil on accordion You will even find a song with a reggae rhythm and tempo entitled Zombie Dance, while Ruff Stuff features his always remembered Ron Sugarman Kain on guitar and vocals and James Cotton on harmonica The final album songs are Set Me Free and Tres Teresa this last one with a suggestive Latin rhythm In short words, this is a varied interesting album in most different aspects
