Wayne Nicholson is one of the most renowned contemporary blues singers in Canada Often compared to Paul Rodgers, Jim Morrison or David Clayton-Thomas, his influences can be found both in the oldest blues and the 70’s rock bands He has also toured with Ike & Tina Turner, Gregg Allman, James Cotton and Jeff Healey among others On the other side John Campbelljohn is a renowned seasoned guitar player, singer and songwriter who has won countless Canadian blues awards The album was an idea of Wayne Nicholson who wanted to record an album to pay homage to legendary bluesman Elmore James Wayne phoned John Campbelljohn and asked him to play in the album, as he was the most able person to recreate the sound of Elmore James’ slide The recording presents twelve Elmore’s songs, plus two own compositions Along the album John looks with the slide, developing a clear crystal sound displayed with exquisite taste Together with Wayne Nicholson on vocals and flute on Strange Kind Of Feeling and John Campbelljohn on guitars, you will also find Barry Cooke on piano, Kim Dunn on organ, Bruce Dixon on bass and Neil Robertson on drums It is a praiseworthy initiative to pay homage to legendary blues names like Elmore James, especially if the tribute is performed with an amazing quality, honesty and respect
