Wanda is a singer who comes from Piedmont area in southern Carolina. She started her musical career as singer at the beginning of the 90’s and her warm sensual voice has been an unexpected discovery to me. For this delightful record, Wanda has chosen an outstanding band leaded by keyboards player and producer Gary Erwin, plus some other great musicians on drums, bass, guitar, tenor and baritone sax, who also do the vocal chorus. In fact, this is more or less Gary’s own band who are backing Miss Johnson in this cd. A straight tasteful work but, over all, mastery performed, although with short financial and technical resources to do it (it was recorded during a week-end on a studio located in the country near Johns Island in South Carolina). Despite, it is a highly recommended cd, especially for all soul and quality rhythm and blues lovers.
