Impressing jewel of classic blues or vaudeville blues that must be present in every blues lover record collection What we have on hands is an historical, eternal and essential recording This cd is an attractive compilation of five great vaudeville blues ladies It starts with Lottie Kimbrough, who along her musical career used different nicknames such as Lottie Beaman among others She gives us some tunes recorded in Chicago in 1924 and 1926 Then comes Luella Miller who performs five amazing songs backed by different musicians such as Lonnie Johnson who plays violin in one track The great Victoria Spivey performs five delicious songs and in Black Snake Blues she plays piano too The following artist is Lucille Bogan who also gives a delicious set backed, among others, by Tampa Red on guitar, Papa Charlie Jackson on banjo and piano players Cow Cow Davenport, Charles Avery and Will Ezell The cd ends with our beloved Sippie Wallace performing five more splendid songs 25 excellent blues that belong to the legacy of a musical history that will never die and must always survive in our hearts Let’s hope so!
