Once again Dialtone Records gives us a gratifying surprise with this excellent cd, that presents some of the best ‘sidemen’ who come from the east of Texas and specially from Austin Clarence Pierce, Donald ‘Duck’ Jennins, George Underwood, Ephraim Owens, Willie Sampson and James Kuykendall are the names who have done a cd full of pure, hard effective blues All these names were part of the history of the postwar electric blues but unfortunately they did not reach the same popularity as many of the blues stars who have often backed BB King, T-Bone Walker, Amos Milburn, Guitar Slim or Lightning Hopkins were some of the names they played with Texas sound will certainly not exist if these artists had not been playing around, and this cd is the smallest homage they deserve
