Here are the last two cds the fantastic competent independent Illinois label, The Sirens has just published for all piano blues lovers enjoyment The first cd includes four great masters who unfortunately have passed away but that let us savour the flavour of the real urban sound of post-war piano players It is a valuable jewel with fifteen powerful bright rolling boogie-woogie songs and barrelhouse blues performed by Speckler Red and Billie Pierce legendary names to James Robinson and Doug Suggs This impressive cd was recorded in 1957 by Erwin Helfer and already belongs to the blues history of that particular period The second one was recorded by Erwin Helfer himself on piano and sax player Skynny Williams Both musicians have been an excellent team which becomes evidenta along the cd that really has some bright moments on magical versions of classic blues songs such like St James Infirmary or See See Rider and especially in some jazz standards like the delicious Ain’t Misbehavin’’ or Stormy Weather Two records which deserve the highest and respectful consideration
