It comes the turn in this collection to get a compilation of pre-soul singers and bands belonging to the period between 1950 and 1954 or, should we still talk about rhythm and blues artists? The selection of artists is really amazing and, as usual in many SagaBlues records, the cd is divided in two different parts. The first one gathers doo-woop bands such as The Moonglows, The Dominoes, the ‘5’ Royals, The Penguins, The Five Keys among other less known ones classified under the generic title of ‘Streetcorner Groups And Gospel Quarters’. The second one is called ‘Singing From The Soul’ and includes Bobby Blue Bland, Joe Liggins, Roy Brown, Little Richard, Rufus Thomas, Johnny Otis, Gatemouth Moore, Percy Mayfield or Ray Charles among others. As you may easily realize. It is a real treasure you should take into account before it gets sold out. If not, you will regret it.
