In February 2020, a good number of musicians from Tulsa, Oklahoma traveled to legendary Leon Russell’s Paradise Studios in Grand Lake, Colorado, to reopen it recording an album, the first one since 1978 In fact Rick Huskey spent the last thirty years preserving and restoring its iconic setting up, respecting its material, its history and preparing it for a new period All the twenty musicians who came there were really impressed, not only for the historical value of that place but also for the excellent and warm sound provided The album was recorded in four days with most of the songs recorded live with almost no alternative takes or overdubs It gathers seventeen songs that represent a wide range of the Oklahoma music, and becomes also a tribute to past generations of great musicians and bands that Tulsa and Oklahoma states have given to popular music The selected songs are led by eight musicians such as Paul Benjaman, John Fullbright, Branjae, Charlie Redd & Briana Wright, Jesse Aycock, Dustin Pittsley, Sarah Frick and Jacob Tovar, each one performing one or two songs, backed by a bunch of excellent musicians The result is a really satisfying recording, an album to be continuously savored and enjoyed without getting tired
