Winner for two consecutive years of the prestigious Blues Music Awards as Best Instrumentalist (sax), Vanessa Collier now presents her new recording for Phenix Fire Graduated in 2013 of Berklee College Of Music, since then on Vanessa has toured extensively, besides releasing four albums so far In this new one Vanessa is on vocals, alto, tenor, soprano, baritone sax and resonator guitar in one song, together with a good number of excellent musicians like Laura Chavez, William Gorman or Nick Stevens among others The album features Vanessa’s eight original compositions, plus remarkable versions of Super Bad coming from James Brown, I Don’t Want Anything To Change by Elisabeth Wagner Rose, Maia Sharp and Stephanie Chapman and Leave Your Hat On by Randy Newman, that complete this more than interesting recording where you will find a good representation of styles like funk, soul, rock and blues, all developed with the personal and peculiar style of this woman who knows very well what she wants to do and how to musically express it
