This man who, one day, was considered one of the most promising values of Chicago blues, has already become a prestigious long established artists among blues circles and fans Born in 1954 in the very centre of Maxwell Street, Vance Kelly was totally immersed into the most genuine blues of the Windy City His father was a gospel musician and his uncle occasionally performed blues At the age of seven Kelly already played guitar with a mastery technique and, in his teens, he could be seen both in Chicago south side and west side clubs backing singer Mary Lane After some time playing disco music, he became member of AC Reed band, where for three years he got a wide experience and matured as a guitarist in different tours and countless shows Then Vance Kelly felt he was ready to form his own band where he has developed his own style that always follows the more orthodox Chicago sound but also flirting with actual soul or rhythm and blues His excellent singing skills have led him to be considered as one of the best musicians of that particular style The album gathers thirteen songs recorded live from Kingston Mines club in Chicago north side and faithfully reflects the feeling of the live blues acts, but also shows the magnificent skills, qualities and sound, not only of such an excellent musician like Vance Kelly, but also of a high quality level band
