Here comes a Canadian acoustic blues duo to let us enjoy a superb collection of songs rooted in the old tradition of the blues that was played between the 1920’s and the 1940’s of last century, especially in the form and way that jug bands musicians used to do. Both singer and harmonica player Tracy K, and singer and guitar player Jamie Snakeman Steinhoff, who also plays dobro, and banjo, have done an album with the aim to preserve the genuine essence and the absolute originality of blues tradition, and they have completely got it. Listeners will find on this album wonderful gems, ranging from Delta folk blues, to songs in the Piedmont tradition, played with slide or fingerstyle. Tracy K singing often reminds the voice of the great Maria Muldaur, both in her own compositions or in covers like “Everybody Loves My Baby” by Spencer Williams and Jack Palmer, or “Chauffeur Blues” Memphis Minnie used to play. It is a highly recommended album, with beautiful rich colors and a melodic very confidential atmosphere.
