Each time Alligator Records releases a new album, blues lovers know they will find a proven quality recording that will not disappoint them. This is the case of this album coming from singer and guitar player Toronzo Cannon, one of the most outstanding artists of the new Chicago blues, who has drunk from the sources of the tradition of his great masters like Hound Dog Taylor, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Albert King, Son Seals and even Jimi Hendrix.

Toronzo Cannon develops a totally contemporary blues, with an overflowing imagination, spiced with electrifying guitar solos together with a powerful voice, which make him to be one of the most outstanding artists of today blues scene.

Born in Chicago in 1968 close to legendary blues club Theresa’s Lounge, when he was a little boy, he used to stand at the club door to listen to bluesmen like Buddy Guy or Junior Wells. When he was 22 years old, his sister gave him a guitar as a present and from then on, he devoted himself to absorb the music of those legendary names like Albert Collins, the three Kings, J.B. Hutto, Lil’ Ed Williams and all the just mentioned names. Toronzo was able to extract the best of them to build up his own style that has catapulted him to the most remarkable blues places of the blues that can be now listened in Chicago.

This is his third album for Alligator Records and includes twelve own compositions where Cannon has especially focused on composition, telling us daily stories of the Chicago he knows so well, without forgetting a magnificent instrumentation and a fantastic production, together with a precise well-oiled group of backing musicians.
