All blues musicians and fans know they have to learn and listen to lots of old classic blues to be able to play and enjoy with something new This is what Lorraine Toots & The Traffic have done, they have immersed themselves in the hottest and desperate sounds of real West Coast, Texas blues, jump blues, Chicago blues and swing to drive us round to his warm and wrapping music Recorded in the heart of California, this album faithfully represents the most genuine and contemporary sound of the actual West Coast bands with a vintage sound, in a selection of originals together with four covers coming from Willie Dixon, Big Joe Turner, Don Robbey and Jimmie Vaughan & Dr John, they play with an exceptional taste in the content, layout and arrangements, besides Toots’ vocal skills, a woman gifted with a huge expressive power and a satin voice, who gives us an excellent singing, perfectly teamed with guitar player Chad Dant, (he is also her husband) The rest of the musicians are Lorenzo Farrell piano and organ, Mike Phillips bass, June Core drums and percussion and the special collaboration of Aki Kumar on harmonica and Chris Kid Andersen on guitar, vocals, bass and piano The band goal is to keep alive the real and genuine spirit of the genre and they have really got it
