Tommy McCoy was lucky because he became a Stevie Ray Vaughn’s friend That was about 1982 and thanks to their friendship, in 1996, when Stevie already had passed away, he had the opportunity to record Love N Money together with Stevie’s rhythm section, that is to say, The Double Trouble or, what is the same, Tommy Shannon on bass and Chris Layton on drums Tommy is a recognized musician in Florida blues circles where he is well known as an excellent singer and guitar player Love N Money is a mixture of Texas blues and rock together with seventies Americana music One can easily remember bands like Allman Brothers Band or Chicago Transit Authority on hearing this cd, but also the actual blues that is now played in Austin or Dallas with electrifying Tommy’s guitar solos In Lay My Demons Down Tommy shares the recording with Lucky Peterson and his band Peterson does a tasteful bright performing on Hammond B-3 and the backing band gives an excellent compact support Tommy looks very inspired and effective both on electric and acoustic guitar taking a more bluesy sound than on the previous cd With a carefully production, this cd deserves a special attention
