Tommy Bankhead can be considered as one of the genuine names of the Missouri deepest down-home blues His roots come from Mississippi Delta but, as he normally used to live in Saint Louis, MO, his musical style gradually evolved to a more refined electric one, unconsciously adding more sophisticated elements to his music Probably there were Lowell Fulson’s direct influences, because he was one of the musicians Bankhead greatly admired If you listen attentively his version of Big Maceo’s Worried Life Blues you will immedately realize what I am saying The deep feeling he gave away in this piece of work is the real will of a life devoted to blues, a life that began in 1931 and ended in 2000, exactly December, 16th when he did his last trip to peaceful God’s land And now we are facing to an honest elegant cd that reflects in its music but, especially, on the lyrics, Tommy’s sincere humanity and good mood
