Danish band JB & The Hüggeli releases their third album recorded live from Smukfest in Denmark, on August 10, 2024.
The show was entirely recorded and, although they did not intend to release it as an album, once they sat down and listened to it, they decided it had quality enough to work on it and publish a CD.
For that particular night the band counted with the special collaboration of the excellent guitar player Henrick Skriver, producer of his previous albums as well as this one too, and piano and keyboard player Josef Baumgartner, a part-time group member.
Eleven songs were selected from that show to round up the recording. All of them become a good example of the amazing energy they give off on stage, that communicates to everybody who listens to the recording, the good vibes and happiness they feel when they play together. This special way of enjoying themselves together, always giving the best of themselves, is what will be immediately caught by listeners, who will feel totally captured by the band’s music and sound.
Six of his own compositions together with five excellent versions of songs like “T-Bone Shuffle” coming from T-Bone Walker, “San Ho Zay” by Freddie King”, “Never Make Your Move Too Soon” by Stix Hoper/Will Hennings, “Stop” by Lonnie Mac and “Too Hot To Handle” by Duke Robillard give shape to the recording, all them framed in jump blues, Texas, Chicago or West Coast blues, that confirm this Dannish band quality and knowledge, something that must be taken into account by fans. You will find Jesper Bjarnesen on guitar and vocals, Hanse Jensen on tenor sax, Jais K. Eriksen on bass and Oscar “Big O” Eriksen on drums.
If you travel around Europe and see they are playing in any bar, club or festival, don’t hesitate to go see them live. I’m sure you will thank me.
