An excellent exercise of rural and acoustic blues or, if you prefer, ‘back-porch-blues’, by Toby Walker, who does an immense work and looks extremely inspired, not only in every one of the sixteen songs included, but also in the collection of guitars he plays a bunch of old compositions coming from Blind Boy Fuller to Blind Willie McTell, Mance Lipscomb, Bo Carter, Big Bill Broonzy, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Huddie Ledbetter, or Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and Blind Boy Fuller. A truly rich and varied collection of pre-war blues, including ‘rollicking rags’, Delta, Piedmont, Texas or Mississippi blues. Toby plays an extensive collection of guitars, to show us his technique and knowledge, guitars that range from a 1968 Harmony 1260 Sovereign Jumbo to a 2004 National Tri-Cone, and others like a 1936 Gibson L-00, a 1900 Columbia parlor guitar or a 1960 Harmony Stratone among several more. An appealing attractive blues festival, performed by an expert talent called Toby Walker, who is backed by his wife Carol Walker on bass in nine of the sixteen songs included.
