From France also comes an album by an excellent soul and gospel singer and sax player called Thomas Doucet who, together with his band The G Lights, are gradually getting recognition in French soul, rhythm & blues and gospel scene. A good example is they were selected to participate at the Mississippi Blues Trail Challenge organized by Cahors Blues Festival where they have been awarded with performances at Benicassim Blues Festival 2023 and Bluestrasje Festival in Poland.

Soul and gospel passionate, it was not until they did an initiatory journey to Memphis in 2020 selected by France Blues to compete at the International Blues Challenge, that the band understood black music real and deep meaning, so they felt the need to devote all their energies to promote and perform the music that totally caught them, following the traces of artists like Otis Redding or Al Green among others, presenting their music in a very actual way and an undeniable professionalism, besides writing their own songs.

Together with Thomas Doucet’s impressive vocals, sax playing and stage presence, the other band members are François Gilbert on keyboards and vocals, Maxime Gilbert on bass and Bruno Guilbault on drums and percussion. Together, they have released an album with eleven songs, most of them own compositions where, besides showing their knowledge of the style they perform, they include appealing lyrics that talk about loving people, loving life, loving music and loving many other different things… So, enjoy with Thomas Doucet & The G Lights sophisticated soul.
