Formed at the end of 2015 and after a long period of rehearsals and preparation, this French band has embarked on the adventure of conquering the market, by faithfully recreating the real “old school soul”. In 2021 they released their first album for Dixiefrog Records and now they present their third release for the same record label entitled “By The Way”.

David “Feelgood Dave” Nöel is its charismatic vocalist who drinks from the sources of James Brown, Otis Redding or Little Richard. Together with him you will find Pierre Antoine Dumora on guitar, Ludovic Timoteo on bass and Olivier Pelfigues on drums. The band has added Julien “Pak” Suhubiette on trombone, Julien Stantau on keyboards and organ and Claire Rousselot-Paillez on backing vocals, developing a style that moves between vintage soul with very actual arrangements, spiced with some touches of rock and New Orleans funk.

Their aim for this new album is to give a slightly funkier touch to their repertoire, without forgetting the most genuine soul roots. Twelve songs, eleven of them own compositions they perform with an amazing conviction, plus the version of “Heart Made Of Stone” (Viceroys/Ting Ling/Sly & Robbie) give shape to the recording, where they have also counted with some guest musicians who give a good dose of brightness to all songs included. Listening to it, it is not surprising that in 2024 the group has been finalist at the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis, getting a high rating.

One more example of the variety and quality of the bands coming from our neighbor country which, unfortunately, are practically unknown in Spain. Let’s hope that this new recording will make them to get a place in the European soul scene.
