Do It Yourself is The Romanticos last piece of work, an album full of good moments of the most genuine blues in all their different forms and styles The band is led by guitar player, singer and composer Iker Piris, the rest of the musicians who complete the group are Xabier Barrenetxea bass and Carlos Sagi drums, with the special collaboration of Paul San Martin on piano and organ on a couple of songs The recoding includes five Piris’ original compositions, which prove his good taste and blues knowledge, together with some dark covers of different bluesmen like Jimmy Rogers, Robert Lockwood Jr, Lowell Fulson or Little Walter, Piris deeply loves and venerates and, of course, he also shows his influences of actual artists and other Spanish blues artists, like Adrian Costa, he gathers some details both in his voice and guitar playing The Romantics keep always faithful and honest to the most orthodox blues tradition and this album is a good example The cd was recorded live in one take, as it should always be in blues music, which proves the band quality
