In these times of pandemic we are all suffering, where musicians have had enough time to go deep into their most inner world, and do a deep reflection about their music and life in general, singer and harmonica player Reverend Shawn Amos presents a new release recorded on a duo format with guitar player Chris ‘Doctor’ Roberts, where both musicians have taken off all superficial elements to play ten blues classics performed with rawness and conviction to, in this way, lead us to the deepest roots blues you can imagine. The ten selected cuts are “Spoonful” and “I’m Ready” coming from Willie Dixon, “Goin’ To The Church” by Lester Butler, “Still A Fool”, “Hoochie Coochie Man” and “Little Anna Mae” by Muddy Waters, “Color And Kind” by Chester Burnett, “Serves Me Right To Suffer” by John Lee Hooker, “Baby Please Don’t Go” by Big Joe Williams and “Can’t Hold Out Much Longer” by Little Walter Jacobs. As one can easily imagine, it is a very traditional repertoire, performed on a totally restrained way, a really raw style and an enormous desperation.
