An excellent album especially devoted to those of you who love a capella voices and doo-woop sounds The Persuasions are five Afromerican singers: Dave Revels tenor and lead vocals, Joe Russell second tenor, Raymond Sanders, first tenor, Bernard ‘BJ’ Jones baritone, Jimmy Hayes bass and Cliff Dawson as a special guest in tenor All these musicians get an original sound, which makes them unique in vocal style, together with beautiful arrangements rich in nuances Besides, the mixture of vocal harmonies they reach and team with no difficulties, are delicate, suggestive and subtle, together with a beautiful huge powerful sound The Persuasions drink from the sources of gospel tradition and get the main inspiration in bands like The Golden Gate Quartet and The Blind Boys Of Alabama Also the influences of Motown bands like The Temptations and The Four Tops are also remarkable in their music Finally, the rhythm and blues of fifties groups is present in the whole sound atmosphere The album track list is also a tribute to Bob Dylan’s music and songs
