It has been a more than a pleasant surprise to listen to this album coming from Madrid band The Mojo Glove, because the group perfectly controls and develops jump and West Coast blues, producing a sound that, sometimes, would make us think we are facing an American band of that area. Just listen to songs like Johnny “Guitar” Watson’s “Motorhead Baby” or Jimmy McGrifft’s “All About My Girl” to realize this is true. The album pays tribute to Chicago blues too, as in “One Of These Mornings” by Little Walter, and also includes two own compositions, together with eight remarkable versions they cleverly perform, all wrapped with high doses of groove and swing.

The Mojo Glove present a real blues and they do it with spontaneity, passion and creativity. Only with one year of existence, they already stand out on the national blues scene.

Sergio Álvarez on guitar and vocals, David Nogales on piano, Gabi Ramos on bass and vocals and Pablo García on drums and vocals form this quartet of excellent musicians I dare say have a great future ahead, so we hope to see them soon in festivals line-up and national tours.

A series of guests have also contributed in the album which enhance its undeniable quality. In short words, an outstanding contribution coming from The Mojo Glove and, as they usually say, “long live to the glove”… and, of course, to the blues.
