What can I say about the new Mannish Boys album if I am a real great fan! Few things can be added to define a group which combines a modern production with classic warm sonorities and vintage electric blues As ever The Mannish Boys play 50’s, 60’ and 70’s Chicago blues, but they also include jump, West Coast, swing, rock ‘n’ roll, soul, Texas blues, rhythm and blues, New Orleans sounds etc They perform all these styles with great knowledge, good taste, an expressive style and deep feeling, so the result cannot be other than a high quality work As usual, all the musicians who form the band and share the songs, gather an unquestionable professionalism The result is bright, juicy and rich in nuances, where the complicity of all musicians involved is really amazing Finis Tasby vocals, Sugaray Rayford vocals, Randy Chortkoff (The Boss) harmonica, Kirk ‘Eli’ Fletcher guitar, Frank Goldwasser (to me he will always be Paris Slim), guitar, slide and vocals, Willie J Campbell bass and double bass, and Jimi Bott drums and percussion Two complete and faultless very well balanced albums, where no one stands over the other musicians, an album joyfully shared, without egos, played with commitment and great enthusiasm by all musicians involved In short words, twenty-six superb songs I am sure will not disappoint any blues lover
