There was a long time without any news about this real singer and harmonica player who is also one of the oldest and most special artists of Minneapolis label Cold Wind Records This recorded live double cd, comes at the best time to show Lamont Cranston’s revival It was recorded at Whiskey Junction club and, unfortunately, it has become a tribute and homage to the band’s tenor sax, Rick O’Dell who passed away three months after he finished to perform for this recording As ever Lamont does a brilliant work on amplified harp, perfectly using the different instrumental techniques such as single notes, overblows or tongue blockin’ On vocals he is really superb, toning his voice down and up, bursting into different tones from the most howling to the most whispering ones but seriously controlling them with an elegant self-assurance Cranston comes back with a renovated energy and he offers us this double cd with nineteen excellent songs performed with the usual quality we are used to find in all his cds
