Since 2007 till now, The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer have released more than seven albums. But who are these guys? Shawn Hall and Matthew Rogers met for the first time in a recording for commercial ads back in 2006. At that time Hall worked in a local television and Rogers was and still is a composer involved in the world of cinema. They soon realized they had many things in common and very similar musical tastes, especially in folk and blues music, styles both deeply loved. They decided to join forces and create a band that would serve as a springboard to give free rein to all their full potential, something that made as a result a strong and extremely energetic group.

The band live shows are so powerful and attractive that they have made them perform at the most important blues and folk festivals in Canada, where they come from, like Winnipeg, Calgary, Québec, Montreal or Ottawa and share stage with Taj Mahal, David Wilcox, Mother Mother, Serene Ryder or Booker T Jones.

This new release was recorded live from the legendary King Eddy blues club in Calgary, and gathers nine Shawn and Matthew’s original compositions plus a song written by Corin Raymond and Robert Vaarmeyer.

Thanks to this album we will have the opportunity to enjoy an original and different group that brings us a really curious, explosive and cool repertoire that will catch listeners from beginning to end, especially for the amazing quality of the harmonica player, the superb voice of Shawn Hall and Matthew Rogers’ good work on the Telecaster, plus the support of organ, bass, drums and the stellar voice of a magnificent singer who perfectly blends her voice with Hall’s one.
