As Gordon Meier always says, each musician is product of his influences For him it would not be honest to deny he has learned from bluesmen like BB King, Muddy Waters or Lightnin’ Hopkins Anyway he recognizes his major influences have always been Freddie King and Magic Slim Both bluesmen became a real obsession in his life, and he even travelled from Europe to Chicago looking for Freddie’s unknown and out of print recordings There he discovered Magic Slim and he was immediately caught by his incredible charisma The second time he saw him playing live he introduced himself to him and since that particular moment they became good and very close friends During all those years, Gordon performed and played often with Magic Slim, John Primer and the rest of The Teardrops In fact, it was Magic who encouraged him to start a solo career Now that some years have gone after Magic Slim’s death, this album becomes a sincere tribute to the memory of Magic Slim and Freddie King This is an splendid blues album with twelve absolutely recommended songs, where Chicago blues spirit and sound run with a pleasant fluency
