Paul San Martín is certainly one of the greatest Spanish blues piano players. Blues music scholar, Paul has developed a deep knowledge in this subject, which allows him to approach with reliability practically all blues styles, from the most primitive barrelhouse piano playing to the most actual rhythms, besides doing a remarkable work as backing musician and singer.

This time he performs on a trio format named The Fake Cousins with Jon Aira on guitar and Javier San Martín on drums. They present a recording where Paul pays tribute to some of his blues idols, displaying a bunch of very successful versions of songs coming from so varied artists like Scott Joplin, one of the most representative ragtime piano players and composers, Huey “Piano” Smith, Pete Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Boots Randolph & James Rich, Eddie Taylor, William Bell & Booker T. Jones, Lucille Vaughan and finally James Douglas Morrison, The Doors unique and revered singer.

As you will immediately realize only listening to the selection of styles that give shape to the album, Paul confirms once again the variety of blues songs he is able to develop with an incredible technique, together with a fine piano technique, besides showing all his performing skills and the wide range of resources he treasures, which make him become one of the blues piano players who has reached an excellent position in Spanish blues scene.
