Although they come from totally different backgrounds, as Haley Spence Brown grew up and worked in a farm and Jack Hackett grew up in a traditional Japanese family, both musicians’ passion was country music. They met by chance performing a series of satirical sketches for a college television. After discovering their musical affinity, they decided that instead of following on writing satirical sketches, they should start to compose songs and begin a musical career.
This is their first album that clearly shows the paths these musicians want to walk on, which are no other than country, Americana roots music with a touch of blues in J.J. Cale’s style.
Twelve of the duo’s own songs, some of them recipients of various awards, make up an album produced by Eric Corne, who has been nominated for two Grammys. In all of them you will discover not only their knowledge of the styles they practice, but also Haley’s suitable voice to sing country music and the mastery of Jack’s guitar playing.
Besides the two musicians, you will also find a reliable backing band. It should also be mentioned that the album features some of the biggest names in country music like Eugene Edwards on guitar, Hayley Orrantia on vocals and Jim Jefferies on vocals too, who collaborate and give a colored touch to the already well-performed songs.
A more than interesting album especially devoted to country lovers who not only enjoy dancing but also listening to beautiful songs where, besides keyboards, guitar, bass or drums, there are never missing instruments like pedal steel guitar, banjo, harmonica, violin or mandolin.
