Only the fact that a record company dares to reissue an album from the golden age of doo-wop, deserves attention and consideration Delmark Records follows the line of reissuing old treasures Now they bring us a cd with a selection of twenty-four tracks coming from groups like The Dandeliers, The Hornets, The Strollers, The Drakers, The Palms and The Five Chances, plus eight previously unreleased songs that did not see the light in those days All tracks were recorded between 1953 and 1957 and, although none of these groups neither got big hits nor received recognition enough to enter into rhythm and blues history, it is now the perfect time to reissue and give knowledge to their music, a wonderful kind of music with some exceptional vocal arrangements, that is part of the Afroamerican music history and popular culture of the mid-twentieth century For those media critics who have failed to value the cd with a wide perspective, I would say them, yes, it’s true maybe The Dandeliers are not The Clovers, The Hornets might not be The Coasters, and The Strollers are not The Dovells, or even The Five Chances did not enjoy popularity of The Five Keys or The Palms did not get the same reputation than Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers But if today was yesterday, this album would certainly hit number 1 on Rhythm & Blues charts
