Aged 82, Marshall Chess, son of legendary Chess Records co-founder Leonard Chess, is still active and excited about new and innovative projects. This time he is happy to announce the release of the album “New Moves: The Chess Project” that gathers eleven songs belonging to some of the great bluesmen who recorded at Chess Records, which are reinterpreted in a surprising way totally different from the originals by a group of musicians who have perfectly understood the novelty of this project, something that becomes a completely peculiar way to spread Chess sound among new audiences.

Produced by Marshall Chess, his son Jamar and Keith Leblanc, the album features a series of musicians who have worked with artists like James Brown, Aretha Franklin or Tina Turner, who contribute to reinvent those classics that were popularized by Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Memphis Slim, Little Walter or Sonny Boy Williamson among others. Mention, among others, Bernard Fowler on vocals (Rolling Stones’ backing band), Keith LeBlanc on percussion, Skip “Little Axe” McDonald on guitar, Eric Gales (Santana, Gry Clark Jr.) on guitar too, Paul Novinski (Keith Richards, Patti Smith) and Mohini Dey on bass, Reggie Griffin (Chaka Kan) on keyboards or Alan Glen (Jeff Beck, Peter Green) on harmonica.

With this album Marshall introduces a new conception to present all these songs, giving them a totally eclectic, new and original vision.

Recently his good friend Richard Ganter has published a book about Chess Records legacy and, in 2020, Richard also created a YouTube channel called “Chess Records Tribute” starting with more than 500 videos, to spread Chess’ musical history.
