Led by amazing harmonica player and good singer Joe Nosek, The Cash Box Kings bring us their first recording for Alligator Records The album becomes an incredible parade of genuine, vintage and real Chicago blues, together with tasteful contributions to passionate Delta blues, rock ‘n’ roll and what they call ‘bluesabilly’ they define as a mixture Chicago blues and early 50’s Memphis traditional rockabilly Since the band foundation in Wisconsin by Nosak and singer Oscar Wilson, they have gained an undeniable prestige that now reaches its peak with this impressive album for Alligator Thirteen songs, six of them Nosek’s own song plus one by Wilson, and the rest versions of songs coming from Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Clifton Chenier, Amos Milburn and Jimmy Reed, make it a must for any Windy City old times blues sound lovers The list of musicians involved in the album is really impressive, all experienced masters of the genre, like Oscar Wilson on vocals, Joe Nosek on harmonica and vocals, Billy Flynn and Joel Paterson on guitars, Kenny Smith and Mark Haines as drummers and Brad View on bass and double bass You will also find some guest musicians like Lee Kanehira on piano and organ, Mel Ford on rhythm guitar, Alex Hall on drums in one song and the horn section The C-Note Horns The album is a tribute to lovely piano player and band member Barrelhouse Chuck, who sadly passed away some time ago
