In 2006, the board of the SBB (Sociedad de Blues de Barcelona) proposed the creation of a Blues Documentary Funds Archive (Fondo de Blues) to the Tecla Sala Library, to serve as the backbone for preserving and promoting the genre.
The Tecla Sala Library and the City Council embraced this initiative and have supported the Archive throughout the years. Today, the collection includes a significant array of books, magazines, CDs, comics, photographs, and other publications. Through the Archive and in collaboration with Barcelona Blues Society, the library also organizes activities such as school concerts, blues lectures, live music, and exhibitions. The collection has been officially recognized as a European blues archive by the European Blues Union.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Blues Documentary Funds Archive, the Barcelona Blues Society and the Tecla Sala Library are organizing a special event on April 22nd, marking the start of the Primavera in Black festival. The celebration will end with a performance by the “SBB 2026 Combo,” formed specifically for this event.
