At the beginning of last century sixties, The Betterdays became a real earthquake in British musical scene They filled rooms with more than a thousand people, provoked hysteria in the audience and played black music songs that shocked well thinking minds, like Walking The Boogie by John Lee Hooker In September 1965 they released their first single that was immediately sold out, but the music industry wanted to make them move away from their raving style and make them record lighter and less raw song, as Colonel Tom Parker did with Elvis The industry pressure and some unfortunate illness of one if his members made the band to fall apart and gradually become a cult group However his leader Mike Weston always felt he was in debt with all his followers and although, in late 90’s, he brought the group together for some show, his aim has always been to be able to gather most of the songs they played and in this way capture the true sound they had in their first days Finally, and to delight his many fans who still remember them and also his new followers, he has released an album with twenty-four of those legendary songs, that becomes a tribute to that band but also a faithful reflection of British rhythm and blues and swingin’ London musical tradition
