Born in Chicago, singer and sax player Terry Hanck received his early musical influences from the late 50’s and early 60’s blues, soul and jazz. When he was just a teenager he traveled to Los Angeles settling in the Bay Area, where he developed a fruitful career. For more than a decade he toured with Elvin Bishop until he decided to form his own band, he has been playing with for more than thirty years. Currently he is a respected musician who easily moves with remarkable confidence in styles like soul, West Coast blues, New Orleans music and even rock ‘n’ roll.
Terry’s aim is to communicate lots of groove and an infectious feeling that comes spontaneously with complete naturality after so many years of career. He manages to give an incredible vitality to his music, thanks to his technique on sax, his well-pitched charismatic voice and his performing energy, that make him be at the same level of artists like Fats Domino, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Lee Allen or King Curtis.
Little Village Foundation is a non-profit record company specialized in recording great artists who perhaps are, in some way, forgotten by people, but who treasure a huge quality and are doing a good job, as is the case of Terry Hanck. Recorded at Greaseland Studios and co-produced by Kid Andersen, the album gathers twelve excellent tracks, seven of them Terry’s own compositions and five covers, that allow us to appreciate the impressive category and personality Terry gives to each of the album songs, backed by a wide and fantastic cast of musicians including Kid Andersen, Jim Pugh, J.P. Soars, Mitch Woods, D-Mar, June Core or Mark Doyle among others.
