Terry Donaghue “Shades Of Blue”

Terry Donaghue "Shades Of Blue"

Canadian singer, songwriter and guitar player Terry Donaghue brings us thirteen own compositions to delight of our senses, he defines them as thirteen different palettes or ways to develop the same kind of music, that is no other than blues.

Terry feels very proud about the songs final result, because he considers their level is in the verge of excellence. Of course, blues can be found in every song but also old-time bluegrass and rhythm and blues, in the path of those which was played during the fifties

Terry Donaghue is deeply influenced by names like John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, B.B. King or Paul Butterfield and, especially by the folk-blues tradition developed by Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee or Mississippi John Hurt. By listening for many years to all those musicians is how Terry has learned to cook the thirteen songs he publishes in this album with the name of “Shades Of Blue”.

Besides Terry Donague on vocals and guitars, other remarkable musicians and guests surround him, like Al Cross on drums, Rick Fines on slide guitar, Cam McInnes on guitar, Sean O’Conner on sax and accordion, Paul Reddick on harmonica, Vezi Tayyeb on bass, guitar and Hammond or Jenie Thai on piano among others.

A pleasant, genuine, enjoyable but, at the same time, original and different, with a very personal conception which reflects the good work of an interesting musician.
