Closing the eyes one could easily imagine he is listening to an American black soul singer in the path of Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett or Solomon Burke However nothing is further from reality, as Sven Zetterberg has been considered as one of the best Swedish soul and blues singers, besides a good guitar and harmonica player Unfortunately Zetterberg died in Stockholm last December only aged sixty-four, with still a successful career ahead and lots of high quality good music to give us His musical legacy is long and fruitful He released his first album in 1975 when he was playing in a band called Telge Blues From that time and until 1981 Sven was member of different groups like The Blues Rockers, The Blue Fire and The Four Roosters, and, from 1981 to 1996, he played with The Chicago Express which became one of the most recognized and appreciated Swedish blues bands of that time He also wrote music for a film entitled Baba’s Cars Sven had also the opportunity to play with great bluesmen like Jimmy Rogers, Louisiana Red, Eddie Boyd, Jimmy McCracklin or Luther Allison among others The album we have on hands becomes a real treasure, thanks to Sven’s powerful strength and amazing quality This is a recording with all the indispensable ingredients to make the best blues and soul go deep into your heart Sven and the musicians who back him have the magic and charm any musician should have to be outstanding artists and the true thing is they burst them generously
