If there is an orthodox blues band that treasures quality, years of experience, cleverness and always do a really good job, it is certainly Sugar Ray & The Blue Tones. From their beginnings at the end of the 70’s, they have almost kept the same musicians in their line-up, always delighting listeners with large doses of the best blues one can imagine.

Along their long career they have performed in mostly all American and European blues festivals, but also in other continents. They have been honored with   countless awards and recognitions, not only as a band but individually as musicians. Its leader, singer and harmonica player Sugar Ray Norcia, has received 22 nominations for the Blues Music Awards and has been winner of these Awards two times. Both bass player Michael “Mudcat” Ward and drummer Neil Gouvin have been band members since its beginning and have received numerous awards too, besides performing with most of the blues greats. Guitar player Rusty Zinn is the latest addition to the group and is also one of the most renowned Texas blues guitar players

Despite so many years on the road, Sugar Ray & The Bluetones still keep the same enthusiasm as when they were a teenagers blues band and, when they pick up their instruments, they enjoy it as much as they did at the start of their career, something that will be immediately realized if you listen to this new album that gathers ten impressive songs, where all them produce an incredible, well teamed sound, with an unbelievable feeling as well as a high-quality level, developed with the precision, elegance and passion they infuse to each of the album songs.

Once again Sugar Ray & The Bluetones have made me fall in love with this fantastic album, that was recorded in Netherlands in April 2025, I can’t stop listening again and again because, besides the band amazing performance, the songs include the best Chicago, East Coas or Texas blues, without forgetting some jump-blues or even Louisiana swamp blues, all in just ten songs, wonderfully developed by this fantastic band called Sugar Ray & The Bluetones.
