The years go passing by and Sugar Ray Norcia continues as a true benchmark of the most classic blues field Few actual white blues bands can boast of have been always considered as true legends of the most pure and genuine blues sound As there could be no otherwise and due to the many years they have been playing together, Sugar Ray and The Bluetones have a compact, restrained, intense and elegant sound, that distinguishes them from other similar bands of American blues scene The group has got a distinctive original sound, thanks to the good work of an immeasurable Neil Gouvin on drums, perfectly supported by an incredible Mudcat Ward on bass Both musicians are the architects of the band grooves, shuffles and swing, a precise greased engine that support the effective and good measured Anthony Geraci’s piano solos, Mike Welch’s terrific guitar and Sugar Ray’s leadership with his powerful vocal abilities and the wild swing of his powerful harmonica blowing, that will totally satisfy everybody who listen to them Ten original band songs plus two versions, Ninety Nine and Nothing But The Devil Definitely this is a cool faultless album performed with an intense feeling, like they have always done in their previous works If the blues had to be written with capital letters, then Sugar Ray And The Bluetones would be the BLUES in themselves
