Born in Chicago’s Italian district, Studebaker John started to play harmonica when he was only seven years old. In the mid-seventies he formed his own band and it was not until the day he was so lucky to see Hound Dog Taylor on a live show, when he decided to leave harmonica aside and devote himself to play guitar, becoming passionate about slide guitar. Up to date Studebaker has developed a fruitful career that has driven him on tour not only around USA but also to Europe and Canada.

As its title says, the album has been conceived as a tribute to Resonator guitar. He has included eleven songs where the resonator becomes the essential part, thanks to some wrapping, hypnotic and suggestive rhythms that allow us to appreciate the wide possibilities of this interesting instrument. John has also included some harmonica flashes, besides singing with a deep rough voice, and has also counted with the special collaboration of Earl Howell on drums and percussion.

The result is a recording that may not please all fans, but will become relevant for a selected specialized audience which like to discover new experiences and immerse themselves in a world of suggestive nuances that certainly will not be found in more commercial recordings.

In short words, songs mostly played on a simple way, with a couple or three dominant chords, more or less in the same short tone and with quite similar and rather primitive riffs. If you like John Lee Hooker of his early years, undoubtedly this is an album that will interest you.
