It is always a pleasure to listen to Chicago blues, especially when an artist like Steve Freund sings and plays the most genuine one Freund is a guitar player and singer who preaches the blues from the deepest part of his heart and soul He worships them with the complete delivery and devotion of a church preacher, because blues is the spiritual food his nature demands Steve captures the deepest blues essence as few musicians do and he gives it to the audience with the elegance, passion and wildness of the great blues masters he is pure feeling Freund came to Chicago in 1976 from his native Brooklyn, New York, looking for the sources of the original blues sound Since then on, he has done a non-stop musical career, both working in his own projects, or as sideman of such great bluesmen like Sunnyland Slim, Big Walter Horton, Luther Allison, Otis Rush, Boz Scaggs, Bonnie Raitt, Koko Taylor, Maria Muldaur, James Cotton, and many more This is the best time to discover and enjoy with the great talent of Steve’s singing and guitar playing, together with other good Chicago blues musicians Let’s enjoy it, fellows!
