Stefan Hillesheim is a German singer and guitar player who, one day, decided to pack his bags and travel to U.S.A. to chase his “American dream”. He settled in Los Angeles, California, where he graduated with honors from the Musicians Institute. He started to play gospel in churches as well as making gigs across the country. He gradually has got a huge experience, and he has built up a solid reputation, becoming a master of the slide guitar he performs with the intensity of the old-school legends, together with a killer sense of groove and an amazing feeling. In 2022, he headed to Chicago to intensely live the music he deeply loves. Soon he was teaming up with seasoned local blues musicians. Today, he stands out in Chicago blues scene and is well known for a high-energy stage presence and a deep, soulful delivery on vocals and especially on guitar.
This is a live album, recorded at Millennium Park during the Chicago Blues Festival, that features ten songs that perfectly capture the band’s onstage chemistry in eight own compositions and two electrifying covers of classics like “Big Legged Woman” and “It Hurts Me Too”. Along the recording you will find from genuine Chicago blues to heartfelt tributes to some of his icons like Freddy King and Elmore James, showcasing a musician who truly lives and breathes the genre.
Stefan Hillesheim is on guitar and vocals, Sumito “Ariyo” Ariyoshi on keys, Darryl Wright on bass and Dionte McMusick on drums. Together, they make up a tight, professional and powerful group which delivers the music they deeply love and play, that is nothing but the Blues.
