From time to time legendary Delmarc Records give us a small treasure like this one The cd includes two blues icons as were Sleepy John Estes, the blues poet of Tennesse, on guitar and vocals, and Hammie Nixon, a musician deeply influenced by John Lee Sonny Boy Williamson, on vocals, harmonica and kazoo, recording together just before they started their tour to Japan in summer 1974 which were some of the first blues shows that took place in that country, only preceded by BB King who was there before As usual Estes’ voice brings us a deep emotional expressivity that, together with his restrained high tone, gives him a sweet delicious vocal touch Both musicians perfectly complement, not only with their instrumental playing, but also in vocals, they sometimes sing altogether or with two voices Delightful Delta blues coming from two great musicians who wrote some historical pages og blues music and unfortunately let us orphan of their music many years ago as Sleepy John Estes died June the 5th 1977 and Hammie Nixon passed away on August, the 17th 1984
